Science and Society a+ Commission
The Association of Academies a+ has a mandate from the federal government to shape the dialogue between the scientific community and society. The Science and Society Commission encourages this core mission transversely.

Which issues are urgently affecting society and will continue to do so in future? How can the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences help societal players to categorise these challenges in a well-founded manner? The Science and Society Commission serves as a central platform for the exchange of best practices. It is composed of representatives of the member organisations and promotes synergies in the realisation of the areas of focus of the multi-year planning of the academies. It creates impulses and develops guidelines to harmonise and pool scientific expertise and render it accessible. It strengthens the network of academies of science through the involvement of association members and develops joint projects for dialogue with different target groups. As a strategic organ, the commission promotes the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences in their role as neutral and credible knowledge mediators.
