Published by the Swiss Young Network for Science Policy and Diplomacy (SYNESPOD) of the Swiss Young Academy, in collaboration with the Geneva Science-Policy Interface (GSPI) and the Franxini Project of Reatch, the report maps educational opportunities for early-career researchers and professionals in Switzerland, Europe, and globally.

    The SAMW is ending its co-funding of the Cochrane Library

    At the end of 2024, the SAMW renewed its financial commitment to national license for the Cochrane Library for another year. This means that healthcare professionals and the entire Swiss population will continue to have free access to evidence-based information that helps them make informed healthcare decisions. However, the Academy will withdraw from this funding in 2026.

    Swiss STEM promotion hits a glass ceiling – a systemic approach should allow for more trained specialists

    The promotion of STEM skills in Switzerland can only develop its full impact if it is approached more strategically and on a broader front and accompanied by progress in equal opportunities. This is illustrated in a study published on 14 May 2025 by the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences on behalf of the Swiss Parliament. An approach of this kind not only increases the number of trained specialists, but also creates advantages in other social areas.

    Swiss Young Academy elects eight new members

    The Swiss Young Academy will admit eight new members at its next Members' Assembly meeting. The newly elected members impressed with their scientific profile, their original ideas for shaping the science system and their commitment to dialogue between science, society and politics. Over the next five years, they will work together with the existing 26 members of the Young Academy on interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary projects that will provide new impetus.

    For the twentieth time, thanks to contributions from the community, td-net has compiled a list of key literature from 2024 in the field of inter- and transdisciplinary research, education and practice. 57 publications, are classified into 5 categories with short annotations from the contributors.
