Antwort der Akademie der Wissenschaften Schweiz auf die interne Konsultation zu der Verordnung über die gymnasiale Maturität (MAR/MAV)

Das Gymnasium bereitet die Schülerinnen und Schüler auf ein Hochschulstudium vor. Den Akademien ist es wichtig, dass der Zugang zu Universitäten und Pädagogischen Hochschulen mit einer gymnasialen Matura nach wie vor ohne weitere Vorprüfung möglich ist und die gymnasiale Bildung nicht geschwächt wird.

    Prix Média and Prix MultiMédia 2025 for Peace Research and Ocean Science

    Burning issues related impactfully: Katharina Bochsler, Sebastian Broschinski, Christof Gertsch and Mikael Krogerus win this year’s prizes for outstanding scientific journalism. Katharina Bochsler receives the Prix Média 2025 for her radio report "Heisse Konflikte" (Burning Conflicts), while Sebastian Broschinski, Christof Gertsch and Mikael Krogerus were awarded the Prix MultiMédia 2025 for their report "Das erschöpfte Meer" (The Depleted Sea). The prizes are each endowed with CHF 10,000.

    Organ donation after assisted suicide? Interview with CEC President Paul Hoff

    The number of assisted suicides is on the rise. In some cases, people who intend to end their lives wish to donate their organs after death. Organ donation and assisted suicide have been practised independently of each other in Switzerland for years, combining both practices, however, raises numerous new medical-ethical questions. In an interview with the Tages-Anzeiger, Paul Hoff, president of the Central Ethics Committee (CEC) of the SAMS explains why he considers an in-depth discussion important.
