The association «smarter medicine – Choosing Wisely Switzerland», of which the SAMS is a member, is committed to providing optimal healthcare in Switzerland. It encourages professional societies to draw up Top 5 lists defining interventions that should be avoided altogether or only used under specific conditions. In March 2026, the Academic Professional Group for Spitex Nursing of the Swiss Association for Nursing Science (VFP) published a Top 5 list.

PS60+ resolution reflects key SAMS proposals
The political debate on the future of Switzerland’s healthcare system is gaining momentum. In a recent resolution, PS60+, the seniors’ organization of the Social Democratic Party, echoes key proposals put forward by the SAMS. It reinforces the discussion on health as a societal responsibility and calls, among other things, for integrated healthcare, stronger coordination by the Confederation and a clear framework for the use of health data.
