Scholars at Risk SAR: Global Conference with Swiss Panel

Parwiz Mosamim, doctoral researcher from Afghanistan at USI Università della Svizzera italiana since 2021, featured in the panel “Courage to Think”, moderated by Roger Pfister from the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences and former Chair of SAR Switzerland. Discussing the situation of the research and higher education sector in Afghanistan, that of women and journalism in particular, as well as Parwiz’ research project on women’s representation barriers and opportunities in the public administration of the Afghan government.

    Swiss Young Academy elects eight new members

    The Swiss Young Academy will admit eight new members at its next Members' Assembly meeting. The newly elected members impressed with their scientific profile, their original ideas for shaping the science system and their commitment to dialogue between science, society and politics. Over the next five years, they will work together with the existing 26 members of the Young Academy on interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary projects that will provide new impetus.

    Tour d'Horizon 2024 published

    For the twentieth time, thanks to contributions from the community, td-net has compiled a list of key literature from 2024 in the field of inter- and transdisciplinary research, education and practice. 57 publications, are classified into 5 categories with short annotations from the contributors. Feedback on the use and usefulness of this product is very much appreciated - simply email to td-net@scnat.ch

    New digital Swiss francs - our money of the future?

    Digitalisation means a radical change for the Swiss financial system. In the near future, technology companies, but also central banks, could develop and issue new virtual forms of money. TA-SWISS would like to stimulate a debate about this in society as a whole and is launching a new study on this topic. The deadline for submitting project outlines is 4 November 2022.
