Jahresbericht 2023: Ein leistungsfähiges Netzwerk
Im Jahr 2023 konnten die Akademien der Wissenschaften Schweiz ihre Stärken ausspielen: Die sechs Mitglieder und die 125 Plattformen, Kommissionen, Arbeitsgruppen und Kuratorien leisteten in ihren Themenbereichen und Fachgebieten wertvolle Arbeit, unter der Steuerung des Dachverbands. Als föderale Union organisiert und mit wirksam arbeitenden Gremien ausgestattet, erschliessen die Akademien ein Netzwerk von über 100’000 Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftlern. Dank diesem agilen Netzwerk gelingt der Brückenbau zwischen Wissenschaft und Gesellschaft in zentralen Themen wie Nachhaltigkeit, Digitalisierung oder Gesundheit. International Coalition for Science, Research and Innovation in Ukraine
The Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences have joined the International Coalition for Science, Research and Innovation in Ukraine. Established at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome in July 2025, the coalition provides a platform for coordinating support for the reconstruction of Ukraine’s science and innovation system. Switzerland is represented in the coalition by the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER), the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), and the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences. By joining the coalition, the Swiss Academies express their solidarity with scientists in Ukraine and support the exchange within the framework of the coalition.

The SAMS Senate grows by nine members
As every year, the Senate’s spring meeting has offered an opportunity to expand its membership. On June 18, nine individuals representing various disciplines and institutions were elected as new ordinary members. We warmly welcome them and look forward to drawing on their extensive expertise.

Updates to the SAMS Executive Board
At its meeting on 18 June, the SAMS Senate elected Professor Paul Hoff as Vice President and Professor Samia Hurst as a new member of the Executive Board. We warmly welcome both to their new roles and look forward to benefiting from their experience and perspectives.
