The debate surrounding the initiative fostered discussion about the importance of research, understanding the methods and processes that lead to new knowledge, and improving medical care for humans and animals, among other things. The concern for animal welfare is shared by the researchers: They are working hard to develop the 3Rs (Reduce, Refine, Replace) principles and respect the high ethical and legal standards for research in Switzerland.

Innovation Qualité: a prize to promote quality in healthcare
The «Innovation Qualité» Prize of the Swiss Academy for Quality in Medicine (ASQM), a FMH-related organisation, is intended to highlight tried and tested projects, make knowledge in the field more visible in Switzerland and provide innovative impetus for debate among specialists. The SAMS supports this prize.

New Executive Board members and speaker elected
The members of the Swiss Young Academy elected their new Executive Board for 2025/26. Nawal Kinany was appointed as the new speaker, Sabrina Heike Kessler will serve as the vice-speaker. In their one-year term of office, they intend to further strengthen the Swiss Young Academy as a vibrant platform that advocates for and amplifies the perspectives of early and mid-career researchers throughout Switzerland.
