Akademien unterstützen Covid-19 Science Taskforce weiterhin
Marcel Tanner, Präsident der Akademien der Wissenschaften Schweiz, zieht sich im Rahmen der Neuorganisation der Task force als Leiter der Expertengruppe Public Health der Covid-19 Science Taskforce des Bundes zurück. «Die Arbeit vor allem auch in der Public Health Gruppe war spannend. Es war schön zu sehen, wie wir es immer wieder geschafft haben, innert kürzester Zeit gemeinsam und transdisziplinär Grundlagen und Handlungsoptionen für drängende politische Massnahmen zu erarbeiten.» Er gebe das Mandat nun ab, weil er nach dem Aufbau der Taskforce als Präsident der Akademien ein Doppelmandat vermeiden wolle. «Die Covid-19 Taskforce funktioniert gut und nun bin ich zusammen mit den Präsidenten von Nationalfonds, swissuniversities und ETH-Rat wieder in der Rolle der vier tragenden Säulen des Wissenschaftssystems». Dass die Politik nicht immer sofort alles umsetzen könne, liege in der Natur der Sache. «Wissenschaft und Politik haben unterschiedliche Realitäten. Die Wissenschaft kann aufzeigen, wie Massnahmen wirken oder was ohne Massnahmen passiert.» Als Präsident der Akademien bleibe er mit der Covid-19 Science Taskforce auch künftig eng und unterstützend verbunden.

Understanding and dialogue between the scientific and political communities and society as a whole needs to be further strengthened
During the first Swiss Research and Innovation Summit held on 17 March 2026 in Bern, experts from the scientific community, politics, administration, the business community and civil society discussed the role scientific expertise plays in politics and society. The purpose of this event was to promote and strengthen an understanding of the need for scientific consultation and mutual dialogue between the scientific community and society as a whole.

CAS One Health: Sustainable health for humans, animals and the environment
To successfully tackle the complex problems of our time, all disciplines, sectors and population groups must work together. This also applies to medicine. The One Health approach, which the SAMS supports in its position papers, aims to restore the balance between humans, animals and ecosystems. The University of Bern offers a CAS course in nine modules on this topic. The program starts in September and the application deadline is 31 May 2026.

Great recognition: SPHN at the Viktor Award gala
The Swiss Personalized Health Network (SPHN) took part yesterday in the Viktor Award 2025 ceremony as nominee in the category «Pioneering Achievement in the Swiss Healthcare System». The Award went finally to the Fondation ART-THERAPIE for promoting art and music therapy in pediatric hospitals. However, SPHN’s nomination itself is a great recognition of the commitment from a large community of university and cantonal hospitals, universities, and research infrastructures throughout Switzerland. The SAMS and SPHN thank the public and the jury for their support.
