The Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences award the Prix Média and Prix MultiMédia again this year for journalistic work that imparts scientific topics in an exciting and substantiated manner. The Prix Newcomer is awarded to commend and recognise up-and-coming journalistic talent.

In line with their performance mandate, the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences promote an exchange between science and society. When it comes to complex issues such as the energy transition or the use of artificial intelligence, it is crucial that scientific findings or the use of artificial intelligence be taught and imparted in an understandable and well-prepared manner. Scientific journalism plays a decisive role in this context.
This year's award ceremony is being held in cooperation with the Swiss Association of Science Journalism (SASJ) and the European Federation of Science Journalism (EFSJ), and focuses on the latest developments in the area of scientific journalism and communication. One particular highlight of the evening is the panel discussion on the subject of "Science Journalism in the age of misinformation" which, in addition to other aspects, sees Philipp Markolin reporting on his research into the laboratory accident thesis relating to COVID-19. His book relating to this, Lab Leak Fever, was published last spring.
We are looking forward to a fascinating exchange. The award ceremony will be held in English.
