Die Aufwendungen des Bundes für Forschung und Innovation steigen von Jahr zu Jahr. In den letzten 10 Jahren nominal um rund einen Drittel. Doch den digitalen Forschungsinfrastrukturen in den Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften fehlt es an Geld. Eine neue Studie im Auftrag der SAGW zeigt, wo die Gelder des Bundes hinfliessen.

Die neue Studie «Finanzierung von Forschung und Innovation durch den Bund ab 2008» rekonstruiert die Finanzflüsse des Bundes in den Bereichen Forschungs- und Innovationsförderung in der letzten Dekade. Wo fliessen die Gelder hin? Wo liegen die Prioritäten? In welchem Umfang werden Forschungsinfrastrukturen unterstützt? Es zeigt sich: Vom Mittelzuwachs konnten alle Wissenschaftsbereiche profitieren, doch fallen die Zuwachsraten in einzelnen Bereichen je nach Fördergefäss sehr unterschiedlich aus.

Against this backdrop, the publication Impact of AI on Early Career Researchers: Challenges, Opportunities, and Responsibilities, developed by members of the Swiss Young Academy, namely Emmanuel Senft, Sabrina H. Kessler, Pamela Delgado, Devi Bühler, and Alexandre Bovet, offers a timely interdisciplinary reflection on these changes. The booklet examines both the opportunities and risks of AI across five key areas – research, teaching, science communication, policymaking, and sustainability – while also addressing critical issues such as research integrity, data privacy, misinformation, governance, and environmental impact. It further highlights the responsibilities of Early Career Researchers and higher education institutions in promoting AI literacy, transparency, ethical standards, and responsible use of AI in science.
